The Bootleg Toys Links

The recent Superman movie made millions of dollars for that franchise. The upcoming Spiderman 3 movie (currently filming in New York) will make more than Superman, I'm sure. The Pirates of the Caribbean is also doing well. But the money these movie franchises' make is not all from the film itself. The marketing rights for toys, games and other collectibles such as Big Gulp cups sometimes bring in just as much as the film themselves. With that amount of money to be made, some companies will forge or sell items without official marketing license. Today's site takes a look at some of those companies products.

The name of the site is The Bootleg Toys Links. This site explores the number of toy lines and characters that have been bootlegged over the years. This site is intended to show toy collectors what kind of bootleg toys are out there. Some of these toys actually have quite a bit of humor quality behind them. Other toys are just plain old pieces of garbage that have no reason to exist except to endanger small children. The author of the site does not condone or encourage the sale or purchase of these items, he is only showing what he has collected.

The variety of toys is incredible. Everything from Batman to Superman to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Peanuts and Harry Potter. There are pictures and descriptions of the toys, and in some instances, comparisons to the real toys are made. There are lots of pictures of the items, so you can see if your collectible is the real thing or not. This site can be a good source of information for collectors both young and old.
