Official Website for Reporting Crane Accidents

There is an old saying that what goes up, must come down. Sometimes that is supposed to happen, such as with birds and airplanes. Even the gas gauge in my car goes up when I fill it, and down as I drive. But sometimes those "coming down" events aren't planned, and can cause some problems. Take today's Warped site. It involves something we see everyday (especially if you live in a large city).

The name of the site is the Official Website for Reporting Crane Accidents. Now I don't mean cranes, like in the bird. But cranes like you see used in construction and building. You usually only hear about them on the news when someone is killed or injured. But I guess there are quite a few of them that don't make it to the 5 o'clock new, and that is why this site was developed.

The site's primary mission is to maintain a perpetual database for recording accidents (crashes, mishaps, wrecks) in which cranes, (tower cranes, mobile, helicopter cranes, other) hoist, derrick, drill rigs, or personnel lifting equipment, (bucket trucks/lift platforms/scissor lifts) construction elevators, mobile TV units with masts may become involved. In general, any and all equipment or machine, mobile or stationary when used for lifting (hoisting) material or people. Any piece of equipment substituting as a crane, for instance a boom type forklift or an excavator/backhoe when used to lift/hoist a load) is also covered. Hopefully, the information gathered will help reduce hoisting related accidents.

So the next time you see one of these huge monsters, or even one of the small ones, you should keep in mind that while they look cool and are fund to watch, they can be dangerous. This site shows just how dangerous. On a scale of 1 to 10, this site gets a Warped rating of 6.5.
